1990 Starline Long John Silver’s Baseball Card Set
The 1990 Starline baseball set was distributed by Long John Silver’s in 8 different “sets” that were actually more like “cello” packs that contained 5 cards each, plus 1 “cover card”. The front of each pack was clear and allowed you to see which player was on the first card in the pack, but on the back of each pack was 1 “cover card” that indicated which set you were getting (set #’s 1-8). On the back of the cover card was a mail-in offer in which you could send $3.99 and get a 2’x3’ poster of a star baseball player.
The set is condition sensitive, with truly GEM MINT cards being tough to find, due to the colored borders on each card. Most examples are found with corner or edge wear.
Even though each pack calls itself a set, there are actually 40 different cards that are needed to have a complete set of 1990 Starline Long John Silver's baseball cards. The checklist is:
